When former CEO David Shapiro of Giant Eagle was retiring after 40 years, Giant Eagle and ocreations wanted to do something special for him. Founding partner Shawn O’Mara worked with Shapiro for nine years as the Creative Manager for Giant Eagle, and suggested a professionally designed and published book to commemorate his accomplishments. Instead of the traditional format of an anniversary book, ocreations suggested that they ask 40 employees to share their favorite memories.
Giant Eagle loved the idea and even made a contest out of it and planned an event for the employees to present the book to Shapiro, who was even more humbled by the pictures and words of his employees.
